The Giants waived LB Cam Jones and cut DL C.J. Ravenell on NFI Saturday at The Greenbrier — Ravenell lasting just 18 days after being claimed off Tennessee's wire, adding to a D-line already short two players on PUP.

The New York Giants trimmed their roster at The Greenbrier on Saturday, waiving linebacker Cam Jones and releasing defensive lineman C.J. Ravenell on a Non-Football Injury designation, according to the club's official transactions page. Both moves were confirmed Saturday evening by Dan Salomone, the Giants' senior managing editor.

Jones, 26, had signed with New York in March as a camp-depth addition. The Indiana product — 6-2, 227 pounds with four years of NFL experience — never made it to the preseason. His exit leaves no paper trail beyond a standard "Waived, No Recall" entry dated July 25.

Ravenell's cut is the sharper data point. The Giants claimed the defensive lineman off Tennessee's waiver wire on July 7 — a camp-body acquisition for a D-line that has been rebuilding all offseason. He lasted 18 days before the NFI designation ended his tenure. The designation signals an injury that occurred outside of team activities, which means it won't count against the club's injured-reserve budget, but it does mean another body gone from a unit already carrying Sam Roberts and Roy Robertson-Harris on the physically unable to perform list.

With DJ Reader, Shelby Harris, Leki Fotu, and Zacch Pickens on hand, Harbaugh's front still has mass. But the camp math keeps tightening.
