The Bushwick horror film series that launched with Child's Play in July 2025 celebrates its first anniversary tonight with a free screening of the sequel at 12 Grattan St. — no RSVP required.

A Bushwick horror film series marks its first anniversary tonight at the venue where it started.

Scream Scene — a community horror programming collective — holds its anniversary event at Pine Box Rock Shop, 12 Grattan St. in Bushwick, steps from the Morgan Ave. L stop. Doors open at 6 p.m.; Child's Play 2 screens at 6:30. Admission is free, no RSVP required, 21+.

The series launched in July 2025 with a screening of the 1988 original Child's Play at the same Grattan Street location. Tonight closes the loop with the sequel. Pine Box, housed in a former casket factory and operating as a neighborhood bar since October 2010, has hosted community events for sixteen years.

Horror365, a horror-community organization, is sponsoring a raffle during the event; prizes include a complete Chucky DVD series and a life-size Chucky doll. Nefarious Confections, a Brooklyn spooky bakery, is supplying free cupcakes while they last. Pine Box will offer a special cocktail menu including a non-alcoholic option.

Beyond its Bushwick dates, Scream Scene now runs Macabre Mondays — a weekly free horror night at Baker Falls on the Lower East Side, every Monday at 9 p.m. Its next Bushwick event: Wes Craven's New Nightmare on Saturday, August 1 at The Tiny Cupboard.
